Children are invited to explore and observe frogs, turtles, birds, and butterflies in their natural habitats using binoculars and spotting scopes at a hike led by representatives from the Nature Conservancy and Carson Valley Trails Association.
The hike, sponsored by the Douglas County Public Library, is at 10 a.m. Friday, June 17 at the River Fork Ranch.
Attendees are encouraged to dress for the weather and the possibility of muddy grounds. They are asked to bring a hat, sunscreen, and water, and they are welcome to pack a picnic to eat after the hike at the Whit Hall Interpretive Center.
Bicycles are welcome on the trails at River Fork Ranch. To protect wildlife, leave dogs at home.
River Fork Ranch is at 381 Genoa Lane in Minden near the historic town of Genoa. Look for a large white open gate near the crossing of the Carson River. Maps to River Fork Ranch are available at the library.
