Community Spotlight: Local golfers compete in course events

Mike Parapid shot a net 63 to win Flight 1 at the recent Silver Oaks Men’s Club tournament.

Parapid nipped Eric Hoyle by one shot and Phil Doss by two. In Flight 2, Robert Martin triumphed with a net 58, four clear of Vern Payette and seven better than Bill Whitstone. Eric Sorenson won closest to the hole on No. 14.

On May 22, Hoyle won Flight 1 with a net 64, one shot better than Bert Wells and Lin Kennedy, and two better than Milo Beauchman. Shawn Akers won Flight 2 with a 62, three better than Steven Sturm and six better than Payette. Jay Wiggins won closest to the hole on No. 12.

McKnight, Menante

team for win

Steve McKnight and Fran Menante shot a 204 to win Thunder Canyon Country Club’s Member/Member Tournament over the weekend.

Jim Colgan and Riley Beckett were second at 207 and Burt Clements and Jerry Hughes were third at 208. Finishing fourth were Mike Schellin and Tim Foster at 209.

Shabi wins flight

at Empire Ranch

Jim Shabi shot a net 62 to win Flight A at the recent Empire Ranch Men’s Club event on June 1.

Bob Pemberton was second with a 64 and Dahl Rask was third at 65. In Flight B, Fred Coons won with a 62, three ahead of Mike Vadnais and five ahead of Nick Paul and Tom Sawyer. Bob Pitcock won Flight C with a 67, one shot better than Mike Logue and three better than John Lewis and Adam Huber. Mel Ness won Flight D with a 64, a stroke ahead of Greg Bently and three ahead of Don Wilson. Dan Rodgers shot 66 to win Flight E by two shots over Steve Isaacson and eight over Ralph Bothe. Peter Youngdahl, Fred Perdomo, Bill Gibson and Pat Coons won closest to the hole.
