One week remains before Fallon’s annual Relay for Life begins at the middle school.

WHAT’S NEW

Paint the Town purple begins Monday and extends through Friday, June 17. All the local businesses and residents may enter. Just decorate in purple and give us a call at 775-427-0140, and someone will take a picture. Prizes will be given at the Relay For Life event. Individuals or groups can decorate inside, outside, a house or car, and so on

Relay for Life dyes the fountain on Monday at 11 a.m. Mayor Ken Tedford and representatives from the city will be there. That night is also the survivor dinner.

TEAM ROTARY GOLF TOURNAMENT

Fallon Rotary Club had 57 hole sponsors, 35 raffle prizes and 15 Teams (60 golfers).

The winning team was Jim Isbister, Jason Kirby, Troy Tweedy and Ed Smirnes.

RELAY DATES

The American Cancer Society is holding its Relay for Life in Fallon on June 17-18 at Churchill County Middle School’s track and infield.

The Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest fundraising event to fight every cancer in every community.

Cancer is something we can’t ignore as one in two men and one in three women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. It is the vision of the American Cancer Society to see a world free from the pain and suffering of cancer and it is our purpose to achieve it.

The Relay For Life of Fallon is able to raise funds that go toward prevention, programs and services, and, of course, research. With your help, Relay for Life can continue to be innovative and think outside of the box with research.

We can continue to give support to those that are newly diagnosed, going through treatment or are care giving for a loved one. But most of all with your help, Relay can continue to give hope that one day the residents of Churchill County and communities around the world will not have to hear the words “you have cancer.”

TEAM HUDDLE

Are you ready to “Paint your World Purple?”

Join us on the first and third Thursdays of the month at 5:30 p.m. at Pizza Factory for a Team Huddle. If you are wondering what Relay For Life is or how you can get involved, stop by.

We will have information about what’s happening for the 2016 Relay For Life, fundraising supplies and ideas and there will be other teams there to chat with.
