Teri Sweeney Studios will be presenting a series of workshops to introduce artists to painting “en plein air,” or painting outdoors.
The first of the three workshops will be a four-week session about drawing from real life. Students will learn the basics of drawing from life such as fitting a composition onto their paper or canvas, how to measure objects in the composition so they are in proportion to each other and in the right location, tricks to getting lines going the right direction and perspective. The simplified drawing class will prepare artists so they can draw what they need in order to paint a simple landscape from life. Students will need a pad of drawing paper, a No. 2 pencil and an eraser.
This first workshop will be from 1 to 3:30 p.m. June 15. The class runs Wednesdays through July 6. The four-week workshop, taught by Teri Sweeney in her Gardnerville studio, costs $100 per person.
