150 years ago

Return of Gov. Blasdel. The governor returned from his reconnaissance among the Indians, night before last. He comes back looking as if campaigning agreed with him. We congratulate His Excellency on his bronzed and healthful personal appearance. The governor found the Indians in great straights for food and one of his first acts was to provide them with a supply of beef and flour at his own expense.

130 years ago

Harvesting the fool crop. About two years ago a man came through this city with a patent churn. He was endeavors get to sell the patent and showed the regular papers. There is at present another man in the city trying to sell the same thing, but unable to show papers. Any person without papers is an impostor.

100 years ago

Through the suggestion first made in the Appeal and later taken up by the ladies of the North End Neighborhood Improvement Association, the road leading to the cemetery, the lots of which line both sides of the road and the cemetery itself, are being cleaned up and put in dress parade shape by the powers that be.

70 years ago

All the lookouts and fire guards of the Carson district of the Toiyabe National Forest were assembled in Carson City this week for a training school.

50 years ago

Skilled stunt drivers of the famous New York World’s Fair Hell Drivers will try this one along with many more at the Tahoe-Carson speedway in a special 8 p.m. show tonight.

Assemblyman Joe Dini, D-Yerington, today filed for re-election to his 11th term in the Nevada Assembly.
