The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Western Nevada is sponsoring a free Mental Health Legal Forum from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 25 at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 449 W. King St.
The event will be divided into four sections, each of which will be followed by a question and answer session. Carson City attorney Ernie Adler will begin the forum with a presentation on different forms of legal guardianship.
Behavioral health professionals who are teamed with law enforcement in Carson City, and Churchill, Douglas, Lyon and Washoe counties will share their approaches to jail diversion. A representative of the State of Nevada Division of Child and Family Services will discuss child residential treatment and other recovery services available to our children.
The forum will conclude with a keynote presentation, Your Rights as a Nevadan with Mental Illness, by Reno attorney Kelly Ranasinghe.
