Digitized images of Navajo weavings and Southwestern ceramics in the collection of the Nevada State Museum can be seen for the first time on an online catalog at nevadaculture.org/nsmcc.
The new catalog is the product of a grant funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The Navajo works were removed from acidic housing materials, rolled onto archival tubes and then encased in muslin, to protect against dust and light. Archival mounts for the Southwestern ceramics were custom-made by museum volunteers. The grant also supported the purchase of Delta Design custom-made textile racks to store the weavings.
