Today kicks off a busy weekend in Carson City, here are some of the highlights:
The inaugural Carson City Off-Road, part of the Epic Rides racing series, takes over Downtown Carson City for the weekend starting today at noon with the opening of the free gear and bike expo. The Capitol 15 fun ride kicks off at 3 p.m. Looking for a place to watch? See page A6, there you will find the multiple courses riders will tackle in the next three days.

Also at 7 p.m. today at the Brewery Arts Center, the Carbe-Durand Band takes the stage as part of the BAC’s free summer concert series.
The annual Stewart Father’s Day Powwow begins with the grand entry at 7 p.m. today at Stewart Indian School, 5500 Snyder Avenue. More than 200 dancers will participate and more than 30 vendors will be on hand. Saturday’s ceremonies are at 1 p.m. and again at 7. Sunday’s activities are from noon to 4 p.m. All are invited to the free family event. For train enthusiasts, the Nevada State Railroad Museum will celebrate Father’s Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Part art and fashion, metal and mechanics, the Steampunk movement comes to the museum. The first of its kind for the museum, the event will feature specially priced tickets that will include unlimited train rides all day and museum admission. In Steampunk spirit, the museum provides the metal and steam with the historic locomotives of the 19th century, Locomotive No. 25 and the collection’s famous McKeen motor car, a still-futuristic looking self-propelled railroad car that began its life in 1910 and operated on the rails in Carson City. All-inclusive tickets for admission and unlimited rides are $15 for adults 18 and older, $10 for museum members, $5 for ages 4 to 17 and free for ages 3 and younger. Single train rides are $8 for adults ages 12 and older, $4 for ages 4-11, free for children ages 3 and younger and half price for museum members. On Saturday, the Carson City Airport Open House will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The open house takes place at the Carson City Airport, 2600 College Parkway Throughout the open house event, visitors can see historic aircraft, interactive displays and activities geared to educate and energize people, young and old. On hand will be the Cactus Air Force, Nevada Aviation Museum, Nevada Pathways to Aviation, ReMax hot air balloon (tethered rides available), the Beech Boys Formation Flyers, Charter College Youth Aviation Science Fun Zone, and the University of Nevada, Reno Innevation Center Drone Zone.
The open house event kicks off at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast for purchase provided by Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). The EAA-Young Eagles program will be taking sign-ups for future plane rides for children for free. Flybys begin at 9:30 a.m. and include an exhilarating field of planes: P51 Mustang, Tootsie, A26 and B25 Bombers, T6 Texan, T33 Shooting Star, F86 Sabre Jet, UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter and many more vintage aircraft and war birds. Planes/helicopters will be landing throughout the day for public viewing.
