Hot dogs, hot paws and Frito feet

Watson here and I am looking forward to the Fourth of July. We always have hot dogs and ice cream, and guess who gets to have some? If you guessed me, you are right. I’m scared of the fireworks, but my mom wraps me in a big towel and pets me when I hear the booms.

Speaking of hot dogs, when my mom and dad take me to Safeway, they make sure that one of them always stays in the car with me. A car can go from 89 degrees to 114 degrees in just 10 minutes. What if I was alone in the car?

It wouldn’t take long for me to die from the heat. Even if I had a window cracked, the car would be so hot I couldn’t take it. So, I just want to remind everyone, leave your dog at home if you have to go in the car. Your BFF (best furry friend) will thank you forever.

I love Laura Mills Park and twice day I go for a walk there. The path is black asphalt and on a sunny day the path gets scorching hot. It might sound strange but pup paws are really sensitive especially to hot asphalt. I always head for the grass and it is much cooler. My mom checks to see if the pavement is too hot by putting the back of her hand on it. If she can’t keep it there for five seconds, it’s too hot for my tender toes.

My mom thinks my feet smell like Fritos. Well, I can tell you even the cleanest pup paws can have the Frito smell because of healthy common bacteria. How cool is that? I smell like corn chips. Check out your pup’s pads. Corn chips anyone?

My little family wishes you the best Fourth of July ever. Remember to keep your pup cool, make sure his feet aren’t burned and check out the Fritos connection: you may want to get some.

XOXO Watson

WHO’S WHO

Our Who’s Who this week is Flower Tree Nursery. The Bailey family has embraced CAPS and continues to support us through tree raffles and sponsoring pet photo shoots. Thank you from all the guests, volunteers and community members. You are the spirit of Fallon, the small town with a big heart. Please stop by the Flower Tree and thank them for their support.

WHO’S NEW AT THE CAPS’ ZOO?

We have a dynamic duo at CAPS that you just have to meet. Lizzy and Mandy are gorgeous cats with personality plus. Unfortunately, their owner died and they were returned to CAPS. Lizzy is a short-haired calico who is eight-years old. Mandy is a short-haired Russian blue who is nine years old. Sadly, they don’t understand why they were returned to CAPS but they are looking for someone who will love them. They are both sweet and ready to love you.
