Value of Cows Doubled in 15 Years. Cows that cost $40 fifteen years ago sell at $90 today. Bran fed to cows 15 years ago at $12 a ton costs $22 these times. Ranch labor that cost $25 a month 15 years ago is hard to get now at $40.

Mother Desires to Locate Her Son. Postmaster Rogers is in receipt of a letter from Mrs. Martha Carmichael, who desires to locate her son John Carmichael. She states that it will be of great interest to him to write to his mother, who is 68 years of age. He is 42 years of age, fair complexion, blue eyes, dark hair and is five feet eight inches tall. Address Mrs. Martha Carmichae, Malheur County, Ore.

Local Events and News About Your Neighbors. ●Harvey Kolhoss, son of Mr. And Mrs. Harvey Kolhoss of Fallon, was one of the 51 men who made up the Plumas County, California, draft quota last week and left for Sacramento for induction. ●Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Bowman have leased the Commercial Hotel on South Broadway and are to take charge of the establishment tomorrow. Mrs. Bessie Davis is to take over the Allen rooming house. ●A. E. Handley returned from San Francisco where he had been visiting his son who attends school in Palo Alta. He was accompanied by Mrs. Flora Morriss. ●Elvin Imus was honored at a surprise farewell party last Friday night before leaving for a year in the army.

New Bowling Alley Nears Completion. The new bowling alley being built for H. J. Strecker, formally of Denver, on the ground floor of the Williams estate building on the corner of Maine and Williams is nearing completion and will probably be opened to the public next week. Four lanes are being installed.

50 Years Ago

Meeting Set to Hear Problems of Old People in County. Dr. Richard Fenner, Director of the State Division of Mental Hygiene, will speak to Churchill County residents who are interested in the problems confronting older people of the community. Communities across the country are becoming increasingly aware of the needs of their senior citizens, and Fallon with a healthy percentage of older residents, is no exception.

High School Highlights. The National Honor Society of Churchill County High School has installed fifteen new members. The new senior members are Shelia Austin, Carl Dodge, James Durbin, Madeline McDaniels, Bonnie Shaw and Susan Yocham. The junior members are Rick Beach, Chuck Bell, Shelia and Sharon Caudle, Bill Egbert, Linda Kent, Joe Pose, Geoffrey Shearer, Bill Stark and Lynn Sullivan.
