The pet event of the season is just around the corner-Bark in the Park will be held on May 7, and we are in the planning stages. If you have never attended our family-friendly festival, be sure to come and bring your dogs. It is the highlight of Watson’s spring: he loves to meet and greet all the folks and pets who make it special.
We are looking for vendors for our event this year. If you or anyone you know has a business, does crafts or performs a service, please let them know we are interested in having you and them participate this year. Watson’s favorites are of course the booths that give out dog treats. Big hint: Dog treats really pack the pups in at your booth.
Last year Watson entered one of the contests and received a participant ribbon. I think he and I have a lot in common because I have my share of participant ribbons from sports events. All in all, we had fun, ate treats and saw old friends.
Many of the business booths were pet-oriented. Watson actually got a pedicure and he loved the attention. Along with the booths, we had pet photos, raffle items and the Strut Your Mutt 5K walk/run. Our wonderful community supported us by supplying raffle items, participants for the Strut Your Mutt, crafts and donations.
We look forward to having this event each year, and all funds that we make at this event go to support CAPS and the guests we serve. Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our shelter. If you would like to volunteer to help us out, we will welcome you.
Fallon is the small town with the big heart, and we love our community. CAPS is the only no-kill shelter in Churchill County, and it stays open because of the fabulous folks who live here. Watch this column for the more details and call CAPS if you have questions. Be sure to check out our new website at the new address: www.capsnevada.com.
WHO’S WHO
Our Who’s Who this week is all the local vendors who come out for Bark in the Park. We are thankful to everyone who works so hard to make our event a success. We are looking forward to seeing old friends and making new friends this year. If you have a business, skill or craft be a part of this year’s Bark in the Park, call CAPS for details about participating this year.
WHO’S NEW AT THE CAPS’ ZOO?
Riley is an adorable Lab-cross who is one year old. She is beautiful, loves to play and gets along well with other dogs. Riley loves her own toys and doesn’t like to share them. St. Patrick’s Day is coming and Riley would love to celebrate it with you in a happy-for-ever home. Of course she’ll bring you the Luck of the Irish. Come out and meet her.
We also have two male kitties ready for their new homes. Policy, however, prohibits adopting out puppies or kittens under the age of six months to a home with children under five years of age. This is to protect both the children and the animal.
