Frank William Primka Jr.

Frank William Primka Jr. died at his home in Carson City on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, following a brief battle with bone cancer, surrounded by his wife and four children. Frank was 71 years old. He leaves his wife Diane (Linehan) Primka of 46 years; his son James Primka and wife Melissa; daughter Heather (Primka) Rikalo and husband Robert; daughter Holly Primka; daughter Tiffany (Primka) Kaiser and husband Gerald; and six grandchildren; Trevor and Allison Rikalo, Nathan and Benjamin Primka, Janine and Eva Kaiser, and his beloved dog Sage. Born in Bedford, Virginia and raised in Roanoke, Frank was the oldest son of Hazel and Frank Primka Sr. A patriotic soul, Frank joined the US Navy at 17 and served his country honorably for eight years. He met his wife Diane while stationed in Longbeach, California, and they were married in 1969 in Pasadena, California. This was the beginning of 46 years of adventures, including Japan, Florida, moving across country and settling out west in Carson City, Nevada, his home for the past 37 years. Frank retired in 2009 from the Lyon County School District. He enjoyed gardening, traveling with his wife, spending time with his kids and grandkids, Sunday morning breakfast at the Cracker Box, and driving his red Corvette. Memorial Services will be held in the Chapel at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church on March 3, 2016, at 11:00 am. Military Funeral Honors will take place at Lone Mountain Cemetery following the church service. A reception will take place at the family home directly following memorial services. Frank was a proud supporter of U.S. Veterans. To honor his memory, the family has established a Scholarship at the local community college to benefit military veterans. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory or Frank can be sent to Greater Nevada Credit Union, where an account has been created for this scholarship. The Primka Family would like to personally thank their friends and family, the telemetry staff at Carson Tahoe Hospital, Gentiva Hospice, Walton Funeral Home, and St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, for their caring and support during this difficult time. Before his passing, Frank’s final words to his family were “I’m ready for my next adventure”.
