A low-speed chase ended in a crash on Roop Street Tuesday afternoon.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office detectives were conducting surveillance near Tiger Drive on a suspect with a warrant when the suspect got into a vehicle and left the residence around 12:45 p.m. in a black Audi. Detectives attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle on Hot Springs Road, but the driver sped off going southbound on Roop. Multiple marked units also joined the pursuit, but the chase ended when the driver crashed into a second vehicle just before Beverly Drive.

The driver of the Audi was identified as the warrant suspect, 23-year-old Jose Alberto Garcia-Perez. Garcia-Perez was arrested on suspicion of a warrant for open and gross lewdness with a child, felony statutory sexual seduction, and felony luring a child to engage in sexual conduct. He will also be charged with failure to yield, resisting arrest and no driver’s license.

The chase was classified as low-speed, and officials suspect Garcia-Perez had slowed down to about 25 miles per hour when he hit the second vehicle. Both drivers were medically cleared with no injuries and Garcia-Perez was taken to the Carson City Jail. He was expected to be booked later Tuesday and the Sheriff’s Office stated additional chargers were pending.
