There weren’t too many surprises in the first track and field meet of the season on Saturday.

But the future of this season looks bright for both the boys and girls.

Fallon took second in both divisions as Fernley won the boys 97-94 over Fallon and the girls 93-85 in the four-team meet that also featured Dayton and South Tahoe.

“We’re about where we usually are,” Fallon boys coach Steve Heck said. “You’re trying to do some base work. Kids are sore. Kids are tired. It’s what we expected at this point. We have a hard working group.”

Reid Clyburn took second in the 100-meter dash in 12.48, less than a quarter of a second from winning the event. Drake Copley (12.71), Colton Peterson (12.81) and Cade Vercellotti (12.82) finished sixth through eight.
