The race for Carson City mayor has already been reduced from four candidates to three.

Chris Carver, who filed to run for mayor just before the deadline last Friday, posted on his website Friday he was withdrawing from the race.

In the letter posted on his website, Carver stated: “It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that I am withdrawing from the race for Mayor of Carson City. As many of you know, I retired from DHS due to disability and over the last week, my health issues have made it clear to me that I would not be able to serve you with the stamina required to honor your commitment to my candidacy.

“Sadly, I am acutely aware of what this means for the voters of Carson City and I wish you the very best of luck with selecting representatives that will speak for you in the coming years. Please accept my sincere appreciation for your support over the last week but it would be unfair to accept your vote and not live up to your expectations.”

Bob Crowell, seeking his third term as mayor, Jerry Cinani, a counselor with Sierra Counseling and Neuropathy and former parks and recreation official Kurt Meyer are now left in the race.
