Anyone looking for Friday evening entertainment can see the star of MTV’s hit show “Disaster Date” at the Carson Nugget.
K-von, who also can be seen on “Last Comic Standing” is performing his stand-up comedy act at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Born and raised in Reno, K-von’s comedy career has taken him around the world several times, performing in comedy clubs and theaters. He appeared on Showtime, CNN, BBC, NPR and ABC’s “Good Morning America.” His most recent project, “Nowruz: Lost & Found,” a documentary he wrote and directed, covered the Iranian New Year. The Nugget is continuing its comedy lineup with Oakland’s Kirk McHenry on Friday, April 8. McHenry, who said his style is influenced by Richard Pryor, weaves stories of his upbringing in the inner city, his experience in prep school and a four-year stint in the Marine Corps. The comedian was recently recognized as one of the top 10 comics in the Bay Area.
Justin Rupple is returning to the Nugget’s comedy stage on Friday, April 15. Rupple recently wrapped up filming “Operation Chromite,” a movie with Liam Neeson. He can be seen on “Scorpion” and “Comics to Watch” on CBS, “Partners” on FX, Fox and Lifetime. His act incorporates more than 80 impersonations, three instruments and 15 original characters.
USA Networks recently released the cast for the first season of Dana Carvey’s “First Impressions,” and Rupple has been named one of the contestants. Hosting the show will be comedian Jay Mandyam who is appearing on multiple episodes of the upcoming season of “Silicon Valley” on HBO.
Impressionist, guitarist and comedian Kirby St. Romain performs on Friday, April 22. St. Romain was a headline act on major cruise lines for 20 years. He also starred in the hit Las Vegas show, “Country Fever,” which ran for four years. St. Romain appeared on “The Statler Brother’s Show” on the Nashville Network. He also appeared on the “Showtime Comedy Club Network” and opened for Kenny Rogers.
J.R. De Guzman is topping off the Nugget’s April comedy lineup when he performs on Friday, April 29.
De Guzman serenades his audiences with songs, jokes, and stories about traveling the world, life after college, and family. He appeared with musicians Passion and Pablo Cruise, as well as comedians Tim Allen, Paul Mooney, and Sasheer Zamata.
Doors for all shows open at 6:45 p.m. All shows are at 7:30 p.m. Audience members must be 21 or older.
