Visit the Historic Fourth Ward School Museum in Virginia City to learn about the Comstock, Mark Twain, letter press printing, early Nevada education and mining.
This year’s changing gallery is The Comstock Through Time, an exhibit that highlights history of the Comstock through photographs and personal accounts. Then and now photographs, also known as rephotography, help to emphasize the changes in the community and surrounding area.
Books, journal entries and oral histories will give the visitor a firsthand account of daily life. In addition, first impressions provide details and descriptions of the sometimes chaotic life on the Comstock.
The museum, at 537 S. C St., is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Oct. 31. For more information, call 775-847-0975, or email director@fourthwardschool.org
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 6-16. Children 5 and under are free.
