Dec 12, 1945 - Mar 29, 2016
Donald William Conner, 70 years of age, passed away at his home on March 29, 2016. He was born December 12, 1945, in Reno, Nevada, the youngest of three sons born to Ralph and Sylvia (Bolton) Conner. He grew up in Reno, and graduated from Churchill County High School. Donald joined the Army, and was stationed in Nuremberg, Germany, where he drove the General around and delivered mail. In 1967, he came home from Germany for his brother’s funeral and met Sharon Beatty. They corresponded by mail while he remained in the service. He was honorably discharged in September of 1968 and returned home. He and Sharon were married on June 8, 1969, in the Episcopal Church in Fallon, Nevada. To this union three children were born: Donnie, T.J. and Missy. The family made their home in Fallon, where Donald worked for Kennametal, Inc. Every summer they would come to Salmon to visit their cousins, Jim and Sandy Toynbee. When he retired in 2010, he stayed busy on his five-acre farm while he waited for Sharon to retire in 2012. They bought a home in Salmon and have enjoyed every outdoor activity there was to offer. They especially enjoyed the many opportunities to hunt, fish and camp without traveling very far. Everywhere they ventured they found nature and beauty. Donald is survived by his wife, Sharon of Salmon; children, Donald (Christina) Conner of Springfield, Illinois, Timothy “T.J.” (Melissa) Conner of Fallon, Nevada, and Melissa Conner of Salmon; five grandchildren, Audrey, Michael, Patrick, Jace and Gauge; brother, Ralph (Carrie) Conner of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and cousin, Jim (Sandy) Toynbee of Salmon. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Thomas Conner. A celebration of life service will be held in Salmon and in Fallon, Nevada at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Jones & Casey Funeral Home. ww.jonesandcaseyfh.comDonald William Conner
