Watson here and I will be looking for you at the fairgrounds. This is my most favorite event ever. Well, it’s the only dog event where I get to see my friends. Last year I won a participation ribbon for the cutest dog contest. I have to admit the winner was a cute as could be. Maybe a lot cuter than me, but just maybe.

If you are coming for the 5K Strut Your Mutt, registration will be between 7:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. (promptly): the 5K will begin at 9 a.m. The cost is $15 for individuals and $50 for groups of four. You also get a T-shirt for the race. How cool is that?

I will be walking with the mom and dad who are slow with a capital S. Good grief, I can just see my buddies zooming past me, but no worries because the first 100 to cross the finish line will get a medal. What have I got to lose? Furry buddies must be on a leash for the 5K and the festivities that follow.

At 10 a.m. Bark in the Park, which is free, will officially open. I love to go to all the booths because there will be dog bones, dog cookies and information for my mom and dad. Next I’m getting my photo taken for the Happy Endings Calendar. Mr. Lamb will take my photo for a $20 sitting fee. For that I get an 5x7 photo and my adorable mug in the calendar. I have had a happy ending thanks to CAPS.

We will then visit the raffle items, and I know there will be a lot of things my mom will get raffle tickets for. There is even a basket with War Dog Beer and glasses. This year there is a special memorial David Martinez quilt. David was a dedicated volunteer at CAPS who unexpectedly died last year. Be sure to check out all of the cool things and get some tickets.

Next is lunch and Johnnie’s Delicatessen will provide sandwiches and drinks. After that I will get a pedicure from Dawn. She will be there from 12-2 p.m. There will also be a dog wash, so it may be my spa day.

There will be dog demonstrations and lots more going on, so don’t miss you chance to have a great time with your best furry friend. I will be looking for all my friends so don’t disappoint me.

WHO’S WHO

This week we would like to commend Ellie from the dog park and Louie’s Hardware for donating food. Thank you from all our guests at CAPS.

You can be a Who’s Who. Just come to Bark in the Park and have fun. We have many talented, exciting and dedicated people coming. All of our vendors will be offering an array of services and information.

WHO’S NEW AT THE CAPS’ ZOO?

Jake is a two-year-old black pit bull who has the heart of a champ. He is sweet, loving and looking for a home where he will be the only dog. If you are longing to meet a sweet boy who is loyal, and dedicated you need to come out and take Jake for a walk. Make a play date with Jake.

CAPS’ NEWS AND EVENTS

CAPS will be at Walmart on May 21 along with adorable Ki at our Kissin’ Booth. There may also be a “mystery” kisser. Please come by and give our boys a big hug and kiss. We have hoodies, sweatshirts and caps, so please check them out before or after greeting our canine volunteers.

Flower Tree Nursery is again raffling a 15-gallon tree of your choice. The drawing date is June 15, and the winner doesn’t have to be present to win. Raffle tickets are available at Flower Tree, and they are $1 for one ticket and $5 for six tickets.

We need dog food! Please help us out. You can drop if off at CAPS or call me at 423-1814 and I will pick it up.
