The Greenwave baseball and softball teams swept Sparks after the series swapped locations twice because of weather.

The baseball squad held on for a 2-1 win on Friday in Fallon before sweeping a doubleheader on the road on Monday, 23-2 and 11-6, to end the season with a fourth-place finish in the Division I-A. Fallon, which finished 14-8 in league, faces South Tahoe on Thursday to open the regional tournament in Spring Creek.

After a close game on Friday the baseball team took advantage of Sparks’ miscues on Monday as it prepares for the playoffs. Everyone got in playing time and the starting pitching trio of Alex Mendez, Kendall Johnson and Calvin Greenwell picked up some work, as did the relievers including Brandon Beeghly. The offense put its two-run effort aside and exploding for 34 runs on Monday, thanks to Trae Workman, Jack Swisher, Brock Uptain and Mendez hitting well at the plate.

The Lady Wave softball team’s sweep guaranteed the league’s top seed.

Fallon defeated Sparks 18-0 on Friday and 16-0 and 11-0 in Monday’s doubleheader. Fallon finished 20-2 in the Division I-A and will get a bye in the regional tournament in Spring Creek.
