The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is searching for the primary suspect in a theft and obtaining money under false pretenses investigation involving the former owner of the Lake Tahoe Brewery.

Detectives are looking for 33-year-old Michael Candelario who’s wanted on a felony contempt of court warrant and misdemeanor violation of pre-trial supervision from the Carson City Justice Court.

Candelario was arrested at the end of February on suspicion of theft. The warrant for his arrest was filed following an investigation that showed Candelario advertised beer canning equipment for sale on a brewing industry website and made an agreement with a brewery in British Columbia, Canada, to sell the equipment.

The victim made payments to Candelario totaling more than $45,000 but didn’t arrange for the equipment to be shipped to the Canadian brewer. The victim filed a report with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in British Columbia who forwarded the report to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Detectives and Special Enforcement Team, executed search warrants in the 800 block of Willow Ranch Trail and in the 2000 block of E. 9th Street in Reno for evidence for their investigation. The search warrants were a result of the ongoing investigation and were done in conjunction with Reno Police Department and FBI/DEA Safe Streets Task Force.
