RENO — University of Nevada softball star Jennifer Purcell, a Carson High graduate, was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association first team.
Purcell, a second-team all-Mountain West selection, hit over .400 for the season, including a .391 mark in conference play. Purcell is only the second player in program history to receive first-team region honors (Noelle Micka is the other).
Outfielder Aaliyah Gibson was a second-team selection, while shortstop Megan Sweet and pitcher Brooke Bollinger were third-team picks.
