Residents in Carson City now have a low-cost option for spaying and neutering feral cats.
A mobile veterinary clinic, designed for spay/neuter services, was recently built for Nevada Humane Society thanks to a grant which covered the cost of the vehicle.
The giant RV was brought to Carson City last week, and the first mobile spay/neuter clinic for feral cats in Carson City was held on Friday.
“This mobile clinic will allow us to provide a bigger outreach to the residents of Carson City and to help control the feral cat population in the area,” said Denise Stevens, interim CEO for Nevada Humane Society. “Right now we are accepting appointments for feral cats only, but in the near future we will expand that outreach to owned cats as well. It’s a big step forward for Carson City, and we’re thrilled to be able to make a difference for animals in Nevada’s capital city.”
Carson City residents can call 775-887-2171 to schedule an appointment for spay/neuter services. At this time, services are being provided to feral cats only and appointments are based on availability.
“The community has asked for our help and we are there for them. With the new shelter opening later this year, we will only continue to increase lifesaving efforts by increasing our programs and services even further to the region,” said Stevens.
