The Popcorn Stand: It’s time to panic when it comes to the Warriors

OK, it’s time to panic.

Steph Curry played like Grandpa Walton Tuesday night while Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant played like John Boy and the result was the Oklahoma City Thunder taking a 3-1 lead over the Golden State Warriors.

Westbrook and Durant seemed to be determined to show they’re not just selfish players who fill up the stat sheet although I could never figure out that argument since I think that’s what they’re supposed to do and by being selfish players who fill up the stat sheet they help their team win.

I remember someone once saying about Pete Rose: “All he does is get 200 hits and score 100 runs every year.” Yeah. And all Westbrook did was get 36 points, 11 assists and 11 rebounds Tuesday, which was a triple-double. I’m no NBA expert, but I think when Westbrook gets a triple-double, Oklahoma City’s chances of winning are increased substantially.

I hear this paralysis through analysis from the so-called experts. The Warriors need to cut down their turnovers. They need to foul less. They need to play better defense. Draymond Green needs to play better. Curry needs to shoot better. Yeah. That’s like my doctor telling me I need to exercise more. Tell me something I don’t know.

All I know is if the Warriors don’t start playing better I’ll be more focused on reruns of The Waltons than the NBA playoffs.
