RENO — The summer baseball season is in its infancy, and the Carson Blue Jays are having a ball.
The Blue Jays remained unbeaten with an easy 20-2 win over the Damonte Rebels in second-day action at the Reno Knights Memorial Day Classic Friday night at Damonte Ranch.
The Blue Jays exploded for six in the second and seven in the fourth and fifth innings. Landon Truesdale, Bryce Moyle, Jesse Lopez and Jace Keema each had three hits. Lopez went 3-for-3 with five RBI and Moyle went 3-for-5 and five RBI. Keema went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI.
With the score 6-2 in the fourth, Abel Carter was hit by a pitch and Keema followed with a homer. Trevor Edis singled, and after an error, Jared Barnard singled home a run. Truesdale drove in another run, Lopez added a two-run single and Moyle drove in another run to make it 13-2.
Barnard pitched a complete game for the win, striking out seven over five innings.
Carson will play a doubleheader today, playing at 3 p.m. against the Douglas Tigers at Wooster and then at 6:30 p.m. at Reed.
