The Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting Tuesday, Nov. 15 to accept the canvass of the vote for the 2016 election.
By Nevada law, the board is required to meet and canvass the returns on or before the sixth working day following the election.
Canvassing is defined as “the compilation of election returns and validation of the outcome that forms the basis of the official results by a political subdivision,” according to the U.S. Election Assistance Commission.
Nearly 92 percent of Carson City active voters — 25,061 voters — cast ballots in the 2016 election.
The local results included the reelection of Mayor Bob Crowell, Supervisor Brad Bonkowski and the election of John Barrette, who defeated incumbent Jim Shirk, for Ward 4 Supervisor.
The Board of Supervisors meet 10 a.m. Nov. 15 in the Sierra Room, Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.
