Prison officials in Nevada say two inmates, both in their 70s, have died at separate facilities.

The state Department of Corrections said Friday that 73-year-old Lawrence Meador died Thursday night at a prison regional medical facility at Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City.

Meador had been in prison since May 1984, serving a life sentence for sexual assault of a victim under 16 years old in Churchill County.

Officials say 72-year-old Joseph Calabrese died Thursday morning at High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs.

Calabrese had been serving 40 years to life for his sexual assault of a victim under 16 conviction in April 2010 in Clark County.

The causes of death for both men weren’t disclosed, with coroner’s autopsies pending.
