Authorities say a woman who asked if it was legal to keep tigers at home in a rural Nevada town was arrested after sheriff’s deputies found three tigers in her backyard in Pahrump.

The Nye County sheriff’s office says 34-year-old Trisha Meyer was arrested Nov. 7 on a felony burglary and theft warrant issued in Harris County, Texas.

A court official in Pahrump said Tuesday that Meyer wasn’t held on local charges. She agreed at a Nov. 9 court appearance not to fight extradition in custody to Houston.

Sgt. David Boruchowitz says deputies found the tigers in the backyard surrounded by a 4-foot fence, and eight monkeys were found inside Meyer’s home.

Boruchowitz says there were no reports the animals were aggressive toward anyone, but they were impounded.
