Tour the Rock Point Mill at Dayton State Park on Saturday, Dec. 3, and learn how it later became one of 21 mill sites along the Carson River.

Built to process silver ore from the Comstock mines near Virginia City, the Rock Point Mill was one of the first and largest ore-crushing mills in Nevada.

The tour will be at 1 p.m. Meet in the northeastern corner of the Gold Ranch Casino parking lot, 755 Old U.S. Highway 50, Dayton.

The walk is less than one mile in length and involves climbing rocky stairs. Some areas on the trail are rocky and uneven. Participants are encouraged to dress in layers for the weather and wear sturdy hiking boots.

The program is free, but donations are accepted. For more information, contact Kim Zuch at 775-687-4319 or washoelake@hdiss.net.
