The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada has named Garrett Weir as its new general counsel and adopted a set of ethical standards for commissioners.
Chairman Joe Reynolds said Weir’s selection reflects where the PUC is heading, putting an emphasis on integrity and a strong ethical approach to regulation.
Weir has worked in the PUC General Counsel’s office for the past eight years.
“The integrity of the PUCN is essential to maintaining the trust of the public and industries that appear before us,” said Reynolds. “We exist to protect the public interest and that is my top priority.”
Weir will represent the commission interest in state and federal courts as well as before regulatory agencies. His office also counsels commissioners and administrative lawyers on legal and policy issues. Weir takes over those duties immediately.
