The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is holding a Citizens Academy for high school seniors.
The Academy is an eight week program that allows citizens to learn more about how the Sheriff’s Office runs, including the importance of the School Resource Office role. This academy could be used for senior projects.
Each class will start with a question and answer period by Sheriff Ken Furlong and Undersheriff Steve Albertsen. Every Department from the Sheriff’s Office will be represented and will have speakers from Patrol, Crime Lab, Evidence, Investigations, Special Enforcement Team, Gang Unit DUI/Traffic, K-9, 911 Dispatchers, School Resource Officers and a SWAT team demonstration.
The acadeny is open to Carson High seniors. If interested, an application must be submitted by January 27, 2017.
The Academy will be held at the Sheriff’s Office at 911 E. Musser St. It will run from February 1, 2017 to March 22, 2017. If you’re under 18-years-old, you must have a signed release from a parent.
If you have any questions about this academy, contact SRO Williams at Dwilliams@carson.org or Volunteer Coordinator Ken Smith at 775-283-7810.
