Shaheen Beauchamp Builders LLC has been chosen as the general contractor for the proposed Vintage at Kings Canyon development, according to a letter submitted to the Carson City Board of Supervisors.
The letter, signed by Jeff Shaheen, co-owner of the Carson City construction company, was written in support of the project and in anticipation of the board’s upcoming vote on it Thursday.
“In the interest of full disclosure, Shaheen Beauchamp Builders has a vested interest in seeing the project approved as we have been selected as the general contractor by the developer. We are appreciative and grateful to be a member of the construction team and look to add this project to our resume,” the letter reads.
Shaheen goes onto outline what he says are the benefits to the city, including positive property tax impact, construction jobs and a commitment to use local subcontractors.
Shaheen Beauchamp was founded in 1998 by Shaheen and Mark Beauchamp.
Among its many projects in Carson City are the Harley Davidson building, St. Teresa of Avila Church, and the Carson Medical Group office.
The board votes Thursday whether to approve the needed master plan amendment and tentative planned unit development the project needs to move forward.
The public was encouraged to submit comments before the meeting because of huge interest in the assisted living and over 55 residential development, which has drawn vocal opposition from many residents near the Mountain Street site.
The Board of Supervisors has scheduled to hear the two Vintage agenda items at 2 p.m.
Public comment will be limited to three minutes per person.
The board meets starting at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room, Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.
