RENO — Carson High swept Galena 25-17, 25-18 and 25-12 in 4A volleyball action Thursday night.
The Senators start play in the XFinity Southern California Invitational today at 3 p.m. in San Diego.
Assistant coach Erin Been ran the team for coach Robert Maw, who was out of town and will join his team in time for the tournament.
Carson improved to 9-3 in league with just four matches left. The Senators are in second place, three matches behind undefeated Bishop Manogue.
It was the second sweep over Galena this year for the Senators, who have won three in a row since beating swept by Bishop Manogue back on Set. 29.

Dayton moves into first
DAYTON — Riley Fetters scored in the first half off a rebounded shot from Victor Gomez to give the Dust Devils a 1-0 win and possession of first place in their division.
“This was a very physical game, not our best performance but the important thing is that we won,” said Luis Melgarejo, Dayton head coach. “Our goalie (Gabriel Dums) had some important saves that helped us stay in the lead.
“We were also defensively strong with Jorddy Diaz, Marco Torres, Johnny Torres and Bryan Aguilera.
“We have to keep working hard and not get overconfident to maintain our position on the top of the table.”
Dayton is 4-1-1, and the Dust Devils visit Fernley next Wednesday at 5 p.m.
Dayton girls edged
DAYTON — The Dust Devils dropped a 2-1 decision to Fernley in a 3A soccer match on Thursday.
Fernley took a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute, and Alaura Grenwalt evened the match at 1 on a free kick in the 37th minute. Fernley scored the game-winning goal in the 54th minute.
