Mary Jane Phillips

Mary Jane Phillips, age 99, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2016 at Ormsby Post Acute Rehab.

She was born in Los Angeles County, California in 1917 to Leroy and Virginia Gilmour, and was the second of four children. Mary Jane grew up on the family ranch in the hills of Southern California where she gained her talents for gardening, sewing and self-reliance. She had many careers throughout her long life: beautician, switchboard operator, and bank teller, but she was most proud of her role as mother of two, grandmother of four, great-grandmother of six and great-great-grandmother of one.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, sister Evelyn, and brother Merle. She is survived by her sister, Gloria Allen, son, Richard Lampman, and daughter, Gaylene Miller. Mary Jane will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor; she knew everyone’s birthdays by heart.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 11:00 am at Walton’s Chapel of the Valley, 1281 North Roop St., Carson City. Burial will follow at the Genoa Cemetery in Genoa.
