Latin American business people visiting Carson City

Entrepreneurs Assembly (EA) of Carson City will welcome 14 young business and public sector leaders from Latin America and the Caribbean today.

The visit is part of the U.S. Department of State’s Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) Professional Fellows Program, in collaboration with the Northern Nevada International Center (NNIC), and the Meridian International Center in Washington, D.C.

The YLAI Fellows will tour Carson City’s renovated downtown and meet with local leaders and attend the monthly meeting of EA Carson.

“Northern Nevada’s close-knit community provides a unique opportunity for these young leaders to get ‘up close and personal’ with business innovators and government officials alike,” said Miya MacKenzie, chief professional officer at Adams Hub for innovation. The YLAI group represent industries such as eco-tourism, healthcare software and food exports, and many partner with local or indigenous farmers and craftspeople.

Participants include Fellows from Belize, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Paraguay, and Uruguay.

“Our motto is ‘founders helping founders,’ and it will be exciting to see what happens in our round table sessions next week,” said Matt Westfield, founder of EA and Entrepreneur in Residence at Adams Hub.

Local businesses, startups and those working on a business idea are invited to participate.
