Soroptimist International of Fallon, an organization that works to improve the lives of women and girls leading to social and economic empowerment, will present a $1,000 Soroptimist “Live Your Dream” Education and Training Award to help a local woman improve her economic situation.
The scholarship provides women who serve as the primary wage earners for their families with the financial resources to offset costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education or additional skills and training. The award can be used for tuition, books, childcare, carfare or any other educational related expense.
Helping a woman in this way improves quality of life, builds self-esteem, builds confidence, strengthens self-determination and helps them in turn want to help other people.
The recipient will advance to the regional award where she might qualify to receive up to an additional $5,000.
Founded in 1952, Soroptimist International of Fallon is a part of the Soroptimist International of the Americas, a global organization. Soroptimist, a 501c3, relies on charitable contributions to support its programs and our thanks goes out to the community for these contributions through our fund raising efforts.
Deadline for completed applications is Nov. 15.
