Chefs, farmers, ranchers and food industry professionals are invited to a Farm to Table Trade Mixer to strategize local food opportunities for the upcoming year as this year’s harvest season comes to a close.
The NevadaGrown Farm to Table Trade Mixer will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at the Roundabout Grill, 255 N. Virginia St. in Reno. The cost is $25.
The event includes locally-sourced appetizers and refreshments prepared by Chef Colin Smith of the Roundabout. The mixer provides opportunity for regional farmers, ranchers, chefs, grocery buyers and distributors to meet with others in the industry to collaborate, strategize solutions for the food distribution gap and brand the region as a food destination.
The event is organized and hosted by Western Nevada College Specialty Crop Institute and the Desert Farming Initiative at University of Nevada, Reno. Both organizations work with local farms and businesses to help expand and diversify Nevada agriculture.
