An evening of 19th century fashion, music and dancing is planned in celebration of Nevada’s statehood.
Piper’s Opera House in Virginia City will be the site of the 2016 Nevada Statehood Ball from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22.
Formerly the Governor’s Ball, the masquerade event will feature live music by The Fort Point Brass Band and 19th century dancing directed by Gus Gustofferson.
In addition, drinks will be available throughout the evening.
The celebration’s attire is formal.
Civil War era or Victorian dress is suggested, but formal attire from any era is welcome. Of course, masks are encouraged.
Doors open at 7 p.m. with dancing planned an hour later.
Tickets in advance are $20 per person. The price at the door goes up to $25 per person.
