Watson here. October is Adopt a Shelter Dog month, and I am a proud graduate of CAPS. I don’t know why I was dropped off at the pound, but I’m happy CAPS rescued me and I got a chance at a new life.

There are lots of dogs and cats who are surrendered for various reasons, and our only hope is to find a family who will love and accept us. CAPS is heaven on earth for a rejected pet. We are loved and taken care of. You have no idea how much the volunteers love us.

When I first found my family, I came home tired and scared, plus I was extremely shy. It took a while to be sure that my mom and dad were going to love and keep me forever. Now is your chance to make a difference to a CAPS guest. Come out and see us.

If you decide to adopt a buddy, the cost is $80 for a dog and your pet will be neutered/spayed, healthy, socialized, have shots and be ready for love. My folks say it’s the best $80 they ever spent. I think so too.

XOXO Watson

COME SEE US

CAPS will be at Walmart on Nov. 19 with the Kissin’ Booth and a wiggly volunteer to kiss. We have caps, short-sleeved t-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts, so please check them out after you have greeted our pup pal. Hurry and order the 2017 Happy Endings Calendar.

IN NEED OF

Are you registered in the Amazon Smile program? I always buy local if possible but there are some items that I need to order from Amazon. AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon. Customers enjoy the same selection of products, low prices, and shopping features as on Amazon.com. The only difference is that, when you shop on AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com), the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to the charitable organization selected by you.

It isn’t difficult to sign up, and it brings in more revenue for our guests.

The holidays are coming and if you need ideas for gifts think of giving CAPS a donation in honor of your loved one. Who needs another gift that will end up in the land-fill? Your gift will support our no-kill shelter.

We are collecting aluminum cans, so we would appreciate any donations. You can drop off the cans at CAPS or call us and we’ll arrange a pick up.

SHOUT OUT TO

Pauline Friedrich who is Watson’s best friend. She encouraged us to adopt the CAPS chocolate Lab who was an absolute love. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for Watson who has made our lives so much sweeter.

Thank you to all the folks who gave donations in Ki’s memory. We truly appreciate your gifts. Ki’s contribution to CAPS will be remembered forever.

LOOKING FOR A HOME

At the pound Capone was getting close to termination when CAPS stepped up to the plate and rescued him. He was surrendered because of landlord issues. Capone is a three-year-old boxer- hound mix who sports a beautiful brown coat with brown trim. He is a shy guy, but once he feels safe he’s a love. Capone likes children and other dogs. He is not a cat man. Come out and meet this bundle of cute, and he will take you for a walk. Capone isn’t like Al Capone because he doesn’t have tax issues.

DON’T FORGET

Flower Tree Nursery is again raffling a 20-gallon live Christmas tree. The raffle tickets are available at Flower Tree, and they are $1 for one ticket and $5 for six tickets. Be sure to get your tickets soon. The drawing date will be held on Dec. 6, and the winner doesn’t have to be present to win.
