150 years ago

A fine flock of sheep: A drove of sheep, some 900 in number, from California, passed through Carson yesterday. They are owned by Mr. Fox, of Gold Hill, and are going to American Flat. For the past five weeks they have been kept in the mountains.

130 years ago

Ever since William Stewart announced that he was a candidate for the U.S. Senate and willing to go on to the lists and meet Fair, he has been showered with the vilest political abuse, misrepresentation and slander that his enemies could invent. During these long months he has patiently endured these attacks, which seem to have been prompted by the most malicious mercenary and malignant motives, and with a dignity becoming his standing on this coast, refrained form answering his accusers.

100 years ago

Old-fashioned box social: An old-fashioned box social will be held in the League rooms of the Methodist church Saturday. Ladies will bring fancy boxes filled with dainty lunch, for two. The young men will buy these boxes at the auction stand. Everybody is cordially invited to attend.

70 years ago

With over 2,500 Indians from councils throughout Nevada expected here for the Nevada Day celebration only a week hence, Indians were informed this week of last-minute details by H.M. Knutson, chairman of the Indian committee.
