Carson City deputies arrest three suspects in burglary case

Carson City deputies arrested three people suspected to be involved in a number of burglaries in Carson City, Sparks and Reno.

Deputies responded to an activated alarm at the Nye Lane Sierra Car Wash at 12:27 a.m. Thursday. When they arrived, they saw to male subjects, later identified as 35-year-old Ernest Saragosa and 26-year-old Austin Rodgers, in black hoodies walking away from the scene. Deputies approached at gunpoint and one male allegedly put his hands into the front pocket of his hoodie and refused to obey commands to remove them.

The two subjects then allegedly attempted to flee on foot from the deputies. Saragosa was caught between the car wash and the Nye Lane Days Inn.

Rodgers ran towards an apartment complex on Imperial and hid in between a van and a fence, according to the arrest report. When deputies rounded the van where Rodgers was hiding, they found the suspect in a small ditch on his back, as if he fell down while running, and his eyes were rolled in the back of his head, his arms were tucked into his chest and his hands were shaking, the report said.

Rodgers was taken to Renown Medical Center by medics. There he gave deputies a false identification for several hours.

At the scene, inside Rodgers’s backpack was tools, pry bars, methamphetamine, a pipe and $12 in quarters, it was reported. The reporter also stated similar tools were located on Saragosa.

Saragosa also told deputies Rodgers’ girlfriend, Melissa Langfeldt, drove the two to the scene. Langfeldt was later arrested at 3:34 a.m., at the Carson Street Max Casino.

Langfeldt told deputies Rodgers had been using meth, gambling and burglarizing multiple locations in Reno and Sparks, stealing various items including guns, the report said. She told deputies Rodgers thought things were getting too hot in Reno and wanted to come to Carson City.

Ernest Saragosa, of Reno was arrested on suspicion of felony burglary, felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of burglary tools and possession of drug paraphernalia; Austin Rodgers, a transient, was arrested on suspicion of felony burglary, felony providing false identification to avoid persecution, obstructing an officer and possession of burglary tools; and Marissa Langfeldt, 22, of Jamestown, Calif., was arrested on suspicion of felony principal to burglary.

Bail for Saragosa was set at $31,000, bail for Rodgers was set at $37,800 and bail for Langfeldt was set at $25,000.
