Carson High School students knew the best way to skip class on Friday: Homecoming.
All grades huddled in the gymnasium for an assembly celebrating the start of Homecoming week, as the Senators and Galena Grizzlies go head-to-head at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30.
During the assembly, students made a collaborative cheering effort to show their school pride by playing short games and watched cheerleader performances. For some, it was an opportunity to ask other students to be their date to the prom.
From freshmen to seniors, each student in attendance also supported their fellow classmates, whom were nominated as Homecoming King and Queen.
“I’m grateful, it’s a nice thing to have,” said Cailyn Campos, senior cheerleader and Homecoming queen candidate. “It’s nice to know how people look up to you.”
“It means a lot,” said Nico Salm, also a senior and Homecoming king candidate. “It’s mostly an honor to represent my senior class.”
The winning couple will be announced during halftime of next week’s football game. Matching each pair respectively, the Homecoming King & Queen candidates include:
Elise Brady and Jared Butler
Emma Brady and Nico Salm
Cailyn Campos and Danny Dudley
Mallory Otto and Alek Henrickson
Molly Otto and Jace Keema
Anya Woodbury and Brandon Gagnon
