John Stertzer, 94, passed away peacefully at home in Carson City, NV.


Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio to John and Anna (Wentzel) Stertzer. He went to South High School in Columbus, and then joined the navy. He worked as an engineer for Denison Engineering for 30 years.


John married Barbara on December 23, 1943 in Columbus. In 1971, John and Barbara purchased Tremont Dry Cleaners in Upper Arlington. They ran the business together until selling it in 1986, and moved to Carson City.


He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara, parents, John and Anna, siblings, Marnell James, Barbara Miller, Virginia, and Raymond.


He is survived by children Linda (Michael) Fischer and John (Rhoda) Stertzer. Grandchildren Yavonne (Andy) McGarry, Jessica (John) Dooley, R. J. Stertzer, Erica Fischer, Anna (Chuck) D’Andrea, Rebecca Willems, Evan (Jessica) Fischer and 15 great grandchildren.


A graveside celebration will be held Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 1:30. Walton’s Carson Gardens Cemetery, 1281 N Roop St, Carson City, NV


John and his wife Barbara will be laid to rest together.
