Discolored water caused by water main flushing in Carson City

Carson City’s annual water main flushing program continues this week.

Riverview Park and Buzzy’s Ranch areas will be affected Monday and Tuesday and on Wednesday and Thursday flushing operations will occur in the area east of Fairview Drive, north of Lepire Drive and south of Highway 50.

Water may be temporarily discolored, caused by naturally-occurring minerals in the water system, and is not harmful. Residents should avoid washing light colored laundry if the water is discolored. Any discoloration is expected to clear up within several hours.

Residents were notified by the city’s emergency notification system.

To sign up Code Red service to receive notifications and emergency alerts go online to www.carson.org/alerts.

Anyone with questions or concerns can call 887-2355 for more information.

The city’s flushing program may continue throughout April.
