Are you ready to get the bark on?

Coming soon, the dog-gone-best-social-event of the season! On Saturday, May 6, Bark in the Park will present a fun-filled day for dogs and their people. The day begins with the annual 5K walk/run. Bring your BFF (best furry friend) on a leash and take a stroll. Dogs walk free and the fee for their people is only $15 per person or $50 for groups of four.

Registration is from 7:30-8:45 a.m. (promptly) at the Churchill County Fairgrounds. The walk/run begins at 9 a.m. The first 100 to cross the finish line will receive a medal.

Entrance is free to Bark in the Park activities, and we have wonderful things to do. Music will be provided by The American Crossroads Band. We’ll have dog contests at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., so bring your BFF to strut his stuff. If your dog is agile, we will have an agility/obstacle course, and NAS Fallon will have a dog demonstration.

Kim Lamb, pet photographer, will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to capture the essence of your favorite pet. Bring your furry or feathered buddy for a family portrait. You can feature yourself and your pet in the CAPS Happy Endings 2018 calendar. Portraits are only $20 and you get a 5x7-inch print. Now is the time to pre-order a 2018 calendar because last year’s sold out quickly.

There will be several vendor booths including 2 Sisters & A Hook, BCCH, Jamberry Nails, Out West Buildings, Rebecca’s Wild Kitchen, Indian Tacos and Henna Art.

The raffle is one activity you won’t want to miss. There are many delightful items to bid on. We also have hats, shirts, hoodies and other pet products for sale. From food to art there is something for everyone. Our cheerful volunteers will assist you with whatever you may need.

All the money raised goes to supporting our guests.

LOOKING FOR A HOME

Dickon is a one-year-old male brown tabby. He and his sisters were brought to CAPS as feral kittens. Fortunately, they all found homes, and we thought it was forever. Sadly, Dickon and Sally’s family had to move and they couldn’t take them. They are both super cuddly, playful and friendly. Both Dickon and Sally love children, dogs and cats. Come out and meet our dynamic duo.

IN NEED OF

Of monetary donations to take care of our puppies. We would appreciate all donations for the “Puppy Fund.”

Aluminum cans, which we recycle to augment our shelter funds. We are unable to pick up cans because of trailer problems, but please continue to save them.

All CAPS volunteers and board of directors who have spent many hours planning Bark in the Park. We truly appreciate and admire your dedication to our no-kill shelter.

COME SEE US

CAPS will be at Walmart on May 20 with our Kissin’ Booth and an eager smooching pooch. Come by to get your smooch. We will also have caps, short-sleeved T-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts, so please check them out after you have been smooched.

Adopt a Shelter Pet Day

To mark your calendar for Bark in the Park that will be held on Saturday, May 6.

Flower Tree Nursery will be raffling a 20-gallon tree of your choice on June 15, and the winner doesn’t have to be present to win. The raffle tickets are available at Flower Tree, and they are $1 for one ticket and $5 for six tickets.
