Electoral College continues to be point of contention
I have read the letter submitted by John O’Neil of Minden in the edition of Nov. 29. Mr. O’Neil did not consult the Constitution of the United States of America regarding the Electoral College.
It is stated in Article Two, the Executive Branch, Section One. There is a section that was superseded by the 12th Amendment. Again, it was modified by the 20th and 25th amendments.
What I find irritating is, when people write the letters to the various newspapers, they do not research any information they are writing about.
In Mr. O’Neal’s letter, it is obvious to me that he is upset with the way our current president, Mr. Trump, was elected. Trump’s election is very legal, and in my opinion he is doing a very good job. The media is against him because they did not support him and they are sitting around wondering what happened. They pushed for Clinton and if she were the one elected, this country would, in my opinion, have gone straight down the tube.
Mr. O’Neil, I’m sorry you feel the way you do. I know your pain because when Obama was elected, I felt the same way. I was right about him and he proved it for eight long years. Go online and get a copy of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. If you want to change it, there is a process you would have to go through. I would not change it. Leave it as it is.
