The Carson City Leisure Hour Club members will celebrate the holidays at their dinner meeting on Dec. 20 with local entertainer Hallie Kirk.
Kirk, who began writing songs in grade school, keeps her “chops” up singing and playing music at home, church, monthly gigs at Comma Coffee, and with local friends and family in the Carson City area.
She plays guitar and helps lead worship as a member of the Praise Team band at First Presbyterian Church of Carson City. This fall, Kirk also joined with the Carson Symphony Singers.
No stranger to the recording studio, Kirk has recorded on several projects, including her three original albums. Her style ranges from adult contemporary and country to inspirational and folk.
Some of her favorite memories as a performer include opening for Tammy Wynette, The Drifters, The Coasters, and Percy Sledge and Paul Thorn.
To attend the event, contact the club’s reservation chair at 775-400-2647 no later than Thursday to make a reservation.
The meeting is preceded by a buffet dinner at 6 p.m. in the Carson Nugget Capitol Ballroom. Reservations for the meeting and dinner are required.
The Leisure Hour Club, established in September of 1896, is Carson City’s oldest continuously meeting social organization. Continuing to celebrate its 122nd year, the organization is focused on its goal of promoting knowledge on important issues, science, music and literature.
