While the Carson City Library is closed this week, the staff is busy packing up books, furniture, computers and everything in between in preparation for new floors and new paint.

The library will be closed for up to eight weeks as the interior receives a facelift of sorts to include fresh paint, concrete floors and a redesigned layout.

New items as well as services will be available at popups throughout the community.

The Citizenship Class will be 2-4 p.m. Saturday in the Kinder Room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St. Books and Brews will be 5-6 p.m. Saturday at Alatte Coffee and Wine Bar inside the Carson Nugget, 507 N. Carson St.

Other locations will be announced on carsoncitylibrary.org and social media, or call the hotline at (775) 887-2244.

A few things to remember in the interim: Anything currently checked out from the Carson City Library collection will be due on or after February 15. Due dates for items that are not part of the Carson City Library collection won’t be extended (this includes holds requests from other libraries).

Library card holders will be able to access free wifi at Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records 100 N. Stewart St.; Bob McFadden Plaza, Carson and Third streets; and the Supreme Court Library, 201 S. Carson St., Suite 200.

Updates will continue throughout the closure.
