Recent postal deliveries are terrible

I totally concur with John Sheridan’s letter to the editor regarding the atrocious manner in which our local Post Office is delivering mail lately.

If I go to the mailbox at a time other than late at night, I usually find the mail has not yet been delivered. I go out in the cold and dark late each night to retrieve the mail because of the manner in which it is often delivered.

I have found mail sticking out of the mailbox, which could have easily been pushed inside. I have also found mail sticking out of the mailbox because it would not fully fit inside and should have been left on the porch. I even once found the mail lying at the base of the mailbox.

I have talked to carriers and called the local Post Office a number of times about this, but it has been to no avail. With the problems the Postal Service is having because of its competition (Internet, etc.), it should be improving its service. Rather, its service has degenerated into its current horrible state which further drives people from using it.
