Tigersharks to host, compete in Junior Olympic meet in Carson City

Led by Dustin Floyd’s 297 and 736, Carson High’s bowling squad topped Manogue 35-10 recently.

Jessica Mathieson rolled a 226-613, Lily Irvin had a 224-601, Matt Hinton had a 212-598 and Connor Bell rolled a 224-596.

Ray Ceragoli finished with a 545, Rylan Fancher had a 540, Dean Poppenga had a 218 and 538, both personal bests, and Gabe Gabica had a 223-531.


Eagles Valley spikes CV

Caydee Farnworth had five dig, four kills and an ace, and Shannen Vonduering added four kills, three digs and an ace to lead Eagle Valley Middle School’s seventh-grade volleyball team to a 25-13 and 25-21 win over Carson Valley Middle School recently,

Olivia Smith added three digs and six assists, Lilly Ralla had two aces and three kills, and Emma Stagliano had four assists, four aces and a kill.


Been qualifies for world event

Former Carson High baseball standout Terek Been qualified over the weekend for the 35th annual World Indoor Rowing Championship in Boston this weekend.

Been, who attends the University of Toronto, qualified for the prestigious event by clocking a 6:01 in the 2K event. He rowed in the Senior Men’s B event.

This weekend’s event is expected to draw 2,000 entrants.


Silver Oak re-opens

The front nine of Silver Oak Golf Club re-opened for play this week.

The course is still closed on Wednesdays as per its winter schedule.

Carson Valley re-opened for play last Friday afternoon.

Flag Football Signups

Signups for the Carson City Talents NFL Flag Football Spring League are now underway. The league is for boys and girls ages 11-13.

League play will begin after Easter break and the season will end before Memorial Day. Games will be held at Eagle Valley Middle School.

Cost is $90 per player and $60 for coaches’ children. Cost covers jerseys, flags and insurance. Signups will end March 3. To sign up, visit http://carsoncitynflflagfootballleague.siplay.com/site/. Players must also fill out the form at http://www.nflflag.com/form/player to be registered with NFL Flag Football.

Coaches are encouraged to form a team of eight players. Coaches also need to register at http://www.nflflag.com/form/coach.
